11 June 2008 - For the laptop-toting traveling gypsy, Xerox has introduced a free downloadable print driver called Mobile Express Driver (X-MED). Compatible with both Xerox and non-Xerox Postscript printers, the print driver allows users to find printers on their connected network and print documents over a local network or over the internet. Mobile Express Driver is currently only compatible with Windows XP and Windows Vista, and only works with Postscript printers.

10th June 08 - HP today announced the release of three new printers: the $99 HP Photosmart C4480 All-in-One, the $129.99 HP Officejet J4680 All-in-One printer and the bargain basement $69 HP Deskjet C4360. The $99 HP Photosmart C4480 AiO offers printing, copying and scanning with a 1.5-inch color display. The HP Deskjet C4360 offers document and photo printing for $69. And the HP Officejet J4680 AiO offers printing, coping, faxing and scanning capabilities at what HP describes as laser-speed prints for the price of $129.99. The HP Officejet J4680 will be available for purchase in August 2008; the C4480 and C4360 are available now.

The Epson Stylus NX400 AiO, which is capable of printing, scanning and copying, is the first model of a new generation of All-in-One printers, according to Epson. The Epson Stylus NX400 comes with DURABrite ink which Epson claims will reduce smudging, fading, and smearing due to water and highlighting. Plain paper prints, Epson claims will last up to six times longer than those from comparable competing manufacturers. The Epson Stylus NX400 is available for an estimated $99.99.

14th May 07 - Canon has just introduced two new fun-sized and fun-looking compact photo printers: the Canon Selphy CP760 and the Canon Selphy CP770. The CP760 is a small portable printer and the CP770 looks like a child’s play bucket. Both come with Canon’s new overcoat technology, which adds a layer of lamination over the printout that Canon claims will protect against smudging, bleeding and blurring of photographs. The Canon Selphy CP760 retails for $99.99 and the Canon Selphy CP770 for $149.99.

30 April 2008 - Lexmark has just introduced the Z2420 printer that includes wireless, Accu-feed technology that Lexmark claims to virtually eliminate paper jams, and claimed print speeds of up to 25 ppm for black and up to 18 ppm for color. The printer also has an optional second set of high yield ink that Lexmark claims will produce cheaper prints. The Lexmark Z2420 is available for $79.99.

14 April 2008 - Canon announced the iP100 today, a new $249.99 portable pritner that they claim is the first to have a one picoliter droplet size. The iP100 also has two black ink tanks, a pigment-based black ink for text and another for photos. Canon also claims that the iP100 will be a faster printer than previous models and increases color resolution to a maximum of 9600 x 2400 dpi. The printer also comes with several mobilizing accessories, some at a hefty price. The Canon iP100 is available now for $249.99.

28th Feb 08 - HP launched their first Deskjet printer 20 years ago today, the HP Deskjet (seen above), and to celebrate they have announced two new Deskjet printers: the HP Deskjet D2500 Printer Series and HP Deskjet F4200 All-in-One (AiO) Series. Both printers are expected to be available this spring. The HP Deskjet D2500 will sell for for $49 and the HP Deskjet F4200 AiO for $79.

8 Feb 2008 – Sony announced the upcoming release of two new PictureStation photo printers on January 30, 2008, the PictureStation DPP-FP95 and the PictureStation DPP-FP75. Advertising them as the carry-along, share and print printers, Sony claims both PictureStations print lab-quality photographs in under a minute per photograph and include enough editing tools to eliminate the need of a computer. The PictureStation DPP-FP95, at $200, and the PictureStation DPP-FP75, at $150, will be available for purchase in April 2008. Their corresponding SVM-F40P and F120P printer paper packs are $20 and $35, respectively.

8th Feb 2008 - Ricoh partnered up with PrinterOn to create two new HotSpot printers that were introduced to the wireless world January 16, 2008. The SP C410DN-KP color printer and the SP 4100N-KP monochrome printer allows Wi-Fi enabled users to print documents from virtually any location and through various devices, even a Blackberry. The SP C410N-KP is available for approximately $2100 and the SP 4100N-KP is available for approximately $1600.

6th Feb 2008 – Canon recently unveiled their latest Pixma iP2600 photo printer. Priced at $49.99, the Pixma iP2600 claims to deliver 4’x6’ within 55 seconds, uses FINE (Full-Photolithography Inkjet Nozzle Engineering) to improve photo resolution and has Auto Image Fix option that analyzes and automatically corrects images for color, brightness and contrast.
