Oki Data Announces New Wide Format Printers
Oki Data has just launched three new wide-format business printers. All three of the new printers, which start at $3399, can print on up to tabloid extra-sized paper (12 by 18 inches), and can print on paper with a weight up to 307 grams per square meter; much larger and heavier than most printers.
The three new models are all in the C9650 range: the base level C9650n, the C9650dn (which adds duplexing) and the C9650hdn (which comes with a 40GB hard drive for document storage) All of them are based around Oki's LED printing engine, which they claim is faster and more energy efficient than laser printers; they claim that all of the models are capable of up to 36 pages per minute in color and 40 pages per minute in black and white, with a first print page time of 9 seconds for black and white. All of the models include 512MB of memory, but an optional 40GB hard drive can be added for holding very large print jobs.
The resolution of the prints is 1200 by 600, and Oki also claims that the printers are not expensive to run, citing a cost per page of 8.4 cents for color and 1.3 cents for black and white prints. Pricing on the individual models is not available at the moment, but Oki says that the new range will start at $3399.
