 The HP Photosmart A440 photo printer is the one of the latest additions to the company’s compact inkjet printer line. Unlike other compact printers in this price range, the A440 printer dock can, and should, be purchased with a camera. Consumers can choose either the A442 Digital Camera and Printer Dock, with the Photosmart M437, for $179.99, or the A446 Digital Camera and Printer Dock Photosmart, with the M537, for $199.99. The A440 dock can also be purchased separately for $99.99. The printer is lightweight and looks more like a clock radio or a small toaster than a printer. HP touts fast printing—40 seconds for a 4x6-inch photo—red-eye correction, and the dockable cameras as its main selling points. The printer lacks memory card slots or an independent viewing screen, so it’s hard to imagine it will be all that competitive with other compact inkjet printers, except for faithful HP fans.
